May 2015 Open Houses
The open houses will provide an opportunity to meet the director, tour the school, discuss the available programs and register for summer 2015 program or 2015-2016 academic year.
The Hundred Acre School engages preschoolers in active learning and preparation for success in school using Heritage’s collections, facilities, and grounds. Their vision is to teach the whole child, emphasizing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) as a springboard to multidisciplinary learning.
Open houses have been scheduled for the following dates:
Monday, May 11th from 9am-12pm
Tuesday, May 12th from 2-5pm
Wednesday, May 13th from 9am-12pm
Thursday, May 14th from 3-7pm
Friday, May 15 from 9am-12pm
Saturday, May 16 from 10am-12pm
Directions to the school from the entrance of Heritage Museums & Gardens, 67 Grove Street, Sandwich
When you arrive at Heritage Museums & Gardens, do not turn into the main parking lot.Continue driving forward and bear to the left onto a town owned dirt road at the fork where the picnic area is located.Do not follow the red/green arrows across the grassy field instead stay on the gravel road.Take your 2nd paved left into the school’s parking lot. You will see a sign for the school at the entrance.Please note – You might feel like you are on the dirt road for awhile… Here’s some landmarks to know you are going the right way!You will drive past the aerial adventure park (on the right)You will drive past the Heritage Maintenance Building (on the right)
School Tours
School tours occur in conjunction with Heritage Museums & Gardens events or programs. Admission to Heritage Museums & Gardens is required to attend a tour. Tours are a great way for community members and museum visitors to explore the school.
Heritage Museums & Gardens Opening Weekend School Tours:
Saturday, April 18th: During regular museum hours
Sunday, April 19th: During regular museum hours
April 18 & 19 from 11-12: The Hundred Acre School STEM Storytime
Families are invited to visit The Hundred Acre School for story time and an art activity. Preschool Director Melissa Russell will demonstrate how STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) is incorporated daily at The Hundred Acre School in literacy and art activities.
This program is free with museum admission. Please note that the preschool is about a 15 minute walk from the main entrance so plan your visit accordingly.
