Join the Cape Cod Museum of Art this summer as it continues to celebrate its 35th-Anniversary with two major narrative installations, “A Summer of Storytelling”, opening July 7, 2016 and running through August 28, 2016.
WILLIAM HEMMERDINGER: The Duxbury Merchant and
AT THE CROSSROADS: Six Narratives at The Intersection of identity and Community
These two companion exhibitions are both narrative art installations that tell personal stories intended to challenge viewers to consider questions such as: How does a personal story become a universal story? How can understanding that process help to heal the divisions among us? Using a wide variety of historical, painterly, photographic and even whimsical styles to express particular world-views, each installation offers a highly personalized visual narrative on topics ranging from family, history, and friendship to the connection to nature, to protecting personal space, and to belonging. These narratives attempt to relate to a diversity of audience interests and values with the intention of finding our common bonds.
