Naturescape Gallery at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History is proud to present “Nature’s Fibers: An Exhibition of Fiber Art” with South Orleans artist Ro Morrissey and friends May 1st - May 31st 2015, Wednesdays –Sundays 11am-3pm.
Defying the traditional mediums of oil, watercolor and pastels, fabric, thread and fiber are the paints and paint brushes of fiber artists. Whether using a sewing machine, a loom or hand stitching, fiber artists strive to add dimension, texture, color and line to their work through the use of fiber. This exhibit features the work of South Orleans fiber artist Ro Morrissey, who, inspired by the enduring beauty of Cape Cod, employs a painterly approach, improvisational piecing and thread sketching to create her scenes of Cape Cod. Joining Ro are art quilter Elaine Skoler; mixed media fiber artist, Toni Newhall; art quilter Robin Maguire and artisan rug maker and weaver, Susannah T. Wheelwright.
