During the 1700 – 1800s Orleans sea Captains and their families sailed the world transporting people and goods to and from New England. Discover the crafts discovered in far-away places and then employed on board ship to help them through the long months of a sea journey. They created decorative keepsakes and gifts for themselves or a loved ones left on shore. Make your own “scrimshaw” scratchboard or shell craft.
