Actors, Singers, Musicians! Perform to Your Potential—Introducing The Alexander Technique Sunday April 5th from 3pm-5pm, $40 This afternoon group will introduce you to how the Alexander Technique helps you play an instrument, practice dance, sing a song, do a monologue, or any other performance activity—with less tension, more kinesthetic awareness, and fuller presence. Constance will lead movement, breath and body explorations. Bring a piece or instrument of your choice. Everyone will receive individual hands-on guidance, group feedback and practices to help you work on your own. Everyone: Start from curiosity and playfulness. Release unnecessary tension and performance anxiety. Find the “just right” amount of liveliness. Begin in a state of readiness. Actors & Singers: Develop 360 degree, 3-dimensional awareness and presence. Explore whole-body support for breath and voice. Dancers: Release habits that don’t contribute to efficiency and expressivity. Increase range of movement—clearer, freer, more fully-expressed. Musicians: Find places of balance and optimal support in your playing. Better align your head, neck, back and breath while you play. People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures. — F. M. Alexander Held in the center of Provincetown. Check website or call to register.
