A Traditional Tribute to St. Patrick, Featuring Carraroe and the Haley Dancers

Presented by Cultural Center of Cape Cod at Cultural Center of Cape Cod

Members of the group are Attleboro piper Torrin Ryan, Duxbury accordionist Kevin Daly, Marion fiddler Mark Oien, and Falmouth banjo/guitar/bouzouki player Bill Black. "CARRAROE specializes in the standard jigs-reels-hornpipes repertoire but will add some of its own material - and a couple new faces - to an otherwise solidly traditional mix," said group spokesman (and senior member) Bill Black, who runs trad sessions in Hyannis and at the Irish Cultural Center in Canton. "Most local Irish music fans know what a great fiddler Mark Oien is, but Torrin Ryan is a young piper of exceptional talent who is basically just beginning his musical career. And Kevin Daly, whose playing to this point has been mostly around the South Shore, is a box player in what I call the 'Joe Burke' style - tasty and solid. Both Torrin and Kevin are sure to be welcomed into the Cape traditional music scene after this performance." The name CARRAROE is derived from the Irish Gaelic "ceathair" (KA-her), meaning "four" (as in four musicians). It is also the name of a town in the Connemara district of County Galway, an area which has supplied many fine traditional musicians to the Boston area over the years. The performance will also feature the incredible Haley Dancers.
