There are a variety of swing dance styles, including the Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, Lindy Hop, and West Coast Swing. The Jitterbug came from a radio announcer covering the 1936 Harvest Moon Ball who said that the dancers looked like “jitterbugs” thanks to the fast and fancy footwork, lifts and aerials. The Jitterbug can be described as single swing (rock step, step, step), perfect for fast swing music. This is the style you will dance to the faster style Swing music, and the pre-cursor to East Coast Swing, also known as triple count swing. Instructor Doug McHugh of Ballroom Bliss has been teaching professionally now for over 14 years. Call 508-394-7100 to register.
