Our beautiful beaches and summer tourists thinly veil a community struggling with substance abuse. But we have a thriving recovery community aided by treatment centers, twelve step groups, faith based groups, and other former addicts and alcoholics who stay abstinent. This documentary tells the stories of addicts, families, law enforcement, clinicians, and community leaders who are affected by addiction and recovery on The Cape. “Once I had gotten myself clean, there was yet another obstacle: the rejoining of society. Being ostracized for so long had taken its toll on me, and I once again found myself with achy hands from striking out at the concrete walls of stigma. My main goal in making this film is ending that ostracism of addicts and to lift that deadly stigma so that those who need help can seek it without shame.” -Director/Producer Sam Tarplin. Please join us to experience this important documentary and meet the filmmakers, Sam Tarplin and Nate Robertson. Sponsored by the Barnstable County Regional Substance Abuse Council & Cape and Islands Suicide Prevention Coalition. Hosted by the Cultural Center and the Plain Talk Initiative. Supported by the Cape Cod Five Foundation. All are welcome.
