Food ON Film Series: MOONSTRUCK

Food ON Film Series: MOONSTRUCK

Presented by Wellfleet Preservation Hall at Unknown

The 3rd season of Food on Film celebrates and savors the passions of the kitchen, mirrored in the dreams and desires of strong-willed women in their search for authenticity in taste and in truth. Each has a different recipe for transforming their lives, as we discover what it means to nourish, to feast, and to be hungry. Each screening will be accompanied by a small plate dish prepared by series co-creator Kim Shkapich of Lola's Local Food Lab.
"Snap out of it!" and come enjoy this timeless slice of deliciousness on our big screen. Moonstruck, 1987 directed by Norman Jewison, is full of magic, memorable characters, and some of the best lines in modern movie history... we'll all be howling " La bella luna" by the end! With a hunger for true love, Loretta Castorini (the inimitable Cher, in perhaps her finest role) cooks a steak for Ronnie Cammareri, (Nicholas Cage) a begrudged baker and the brother of her fiancé. Depicting the complexities of two Italian-American multi-generational families, it’s a comedic favorite boasting an all-star cast. Passions rise, along with the yeast, in that Brooklyn basement bakery.
