This class will assist artists in developing skills to create better paintings, and is suitable for all painting mediums.   The goal of the Painter’s Class is to increase your awareness of the technical, creative and emotional components of the painting process, ultimately to help you make better artistic decisions.  Artists new to pastel are welcome as this class can accommodate beginner pastelists.  For all other mediums, artists should have a working knowledge of your medium. Classes will include themes with warm-up exercises intended to develop a thoughtful approach to painting such as improving drawing skills, pre-planning with thumbnail and value sketches, employing compositional structures, developing an “eye” for values and making color harmony decisions. Artists will be encouraged to share, with critiques directed towards understanding and explaining the choices we make as artists. Supplies list: Your medium of choice – paints and painting surfaces, apron or painting shirt, sketch book, pencils, charcoal, kneaded eraser, ruler.  Betsy will have pastel papers & boards for sale and some are suitable for oil and acrylic.
