Gallery Conversation: Venus, Cupid, and the Arrow: Images of Love and Lust in Art with Marie Canaves

Through the lens of Venus and Cupid, we will explore the lively and ingenious ways in which artists throughout the ages have treated love and lust — emotions at very heart of our lives.

Marie Canaves is an artist and art historian currently teaching at Cape Cod Community College. She received her Master of Arts in Art History from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX, where she studied Frida Kahlo, 19/20th century European, & Mexican art. She was the curator of education at the Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach. She’s taught the following art history courses: Stone Age to Gothic Age; Renaissance to Romanticism, the History of Modern and Contemporary Art; Modern Art: Realism to Surrealism; Myths, Legends & Symbols in Art; and Women Artists: Middle Ages to Modern.
