"Art is Fun" - The Art of David F. Kelley

at Maser Gallery

Artwork by David F. Kelley will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from December 7 through December 31, 2014. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception, Sunday, December 7, from 3:00-5:00PM.

David F. Kelley began his art studies by mail at Art Instruction Schools while still an undergraduate at Providence College. Following graduation he studied Graphic Design at the Rhode Island School of Design for two years before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Following Army service, he studied at Hartford Art School and elsewhere over the years to expand his artistic knowledge and skills. While working professionally as a graphic designer and illustrator in publishing, pro sports and technology, David always painted, experimented and entered juried exhibitions around the country as this activity was the background and creative source for his design work. He enjoys “creative play” and works with varied subjects in a variety of mediums - pastel being the most dominant. This has helped him win awards in open juried shows on and off Cape Cod and to be featured in articles in Cape Cod Life, Cape Cod Magazine and the Falmouth Enterprise and Bulletin. A video of his last Maser Gallery exhibition (January 2013) can be seen on YouTube.

Says David: “Creating art is not easy, but if blessed with a degree of talent and strong motivation, you can fly over the speed bumps that impede your way to self-discovery. Motivation and belief is critical, because without it, you can think and talk, but not do. True motivation and belief in self is the critical gift that keeps you on track during the worst of storms and aids in the discovery, enjoyment and sharing of the gifts you’ve been given.”

David is a Past President and active member of both the Falmouth Artists Guild and South Shore Art Center in Cohasset. He is also an active member of the Cape Cod Art Association, a Signature Member of the Pastel Society of America, a “Master Artist” at the Cape Cod Art Association, a “Signature Member” of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod and had a drawing selected in a national competition by Northlight Books for Strokes of Genius 2: the best of drawing and more recently a painting for INCITE 2, Color Passions. He regularly exhibits his work in juried exhibitions and is represented by Rice Gallery in Mashpee Commons.
