Cerise is recognized as one of Cape Cod’s top female jazz vocalist, appearing with the Cape Cod Symphony Orchestra, the Orleans annual Pop’s in the Park concert as a solo vocalist, and the Symphony’s Music and Martini’s concert. NEjazz.com says, “Cerise is a charming entertainer … an electrifying experience! Remember that name.” Come along with her on A Musical Tour of the Latin World: Brazilian samba, Argentinian tango, Afro-Cuban rumba, Caribbean salsa, and Dominican merengue. Many of these styles were part of the jazz scene in the 1940s and ‘50s, so jazz enthusiasts will be familiar with some of the music and make new discoveries along the way. Between songs, Cerise will talk about the origins and significance of each dance, while drummer Phil Vitali, a master of Latin percussion, will demonstrate the distinctive rhythms. With Charlie Jamieson on piano, Nick Rice on bass, and George Machon on trumpet, flute and percussion.
$22, $18 for members. Complimentary refreshments.
