Born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts 24-year-old drummer Kareem Sanjaghi played his first professional gig at the young age of 13 with his grandfather, pianist Bob Hayes, and famed trumpeter Lou Colombo whom he performed with three hundred times over 10 years. During his career he has become known for his maturity and professionalism on and off the bandstand in both rock and jazz settings. He has performed with some of the world’s best musicians including Lou Colombo, reed player Dick Johnson, clarinetist Joe Muranyi, trombonist/flautist Kenny Wenzel, pianists Eddie Higgins, Rossano Sportiello, and Lee Musiker, bassists Paul Langosch and Marshall Wood, vocalists Suede and Donny Byrne, and guitarist Gray Sargent. A gifted writer, his tribute for jazz drum legend Jake Hanna is published in the book “Jake Hanna: The Rhythm and Wit of a Swinging Jazz Drummer” (Meredith Music Publications, 2012). Kareem has performed before Tony Bennett with Bennett’s band three times and has received great praise from legendary performer Tony Orlando.
