Alice Nicholson Galick
artist statement & bio

Alice Nicholson Galick lives in East Falmouth and came to Cape Cod after teaching art in Connecticut, Virginia and North Carolina.
Introduced to printmaking during the1970s renaissance of printmaking in graduate school, she has worked with artists in assistantships at Penland in North Carolina and workshops around New England and the Printmakers of Cape Cod.
She has participated in invitational and solo shows, and won awards in many juried and National shows. Her work is in collections public and private around the US and Europe.
Drawing from surrounding nature and the environment my work reflects my experiences in abstractions of color, light, and texture. I layer images often to interpret a time lapse of season or include figures to bring into focus our connection.

Most of my work today is monoprinting (unique one of a kind prints) with several layers of transparent inks often using woodcut, etching, painted monotype and stencils together.
