Roots rock, Americana and blues meet witty, compelling storytelling in the songs of Out Late's Diana Di Gioia. A three time finalist in the Cape's Eventide Songwriting Competiton, Di Gioia describes her music as combining “word nerd lyrics with rock 'n' roll energy”. The Cape Cod Times calls her songs “Finely honed narratives with telling details”. The Outer Cape’s Payomet Center for the Arts says, “Diana and her band bring youthful energy, exuberant sound and fun storytelling to her original body of songs.”

The band features Di Gioia on vocals and rhythm guitar, J Hagenbuckle on lead guitar, Melody Masi on backing vocals and Melissa Weidman on bass. Together they create a rich sound powered by danceable rhythms and compelling harmonies, with influences from surf to folk, rockabilly to swing blues.

Di Gioia's first CD "Out Late" aired on the nationally syndicated American Public Radio Series "This Way Out". Her follow up album, “Either/Or World”, completed in 2012, features the local favorite "Ptown Pants" and the title track, a cheeky take on existing outside the gender binary. 2018's “Nevermore” was launched just days after the band's breakout performance at the Cape Cod Women's Music Festival. Di Gioia and the new album were also featured on WCAI's The Point with Mindy Todd, WOMR's The Old Song's Home with Bob Weiser and Ocean 104's “The Cheap Seats” with Cat Wilson. In September 2021 she was selected to be part of the the New England Regional Folk Alliance Fall Conference, a performance that will be streamed as part of the DJ Showcase on Thursday, November 11th .

Out Late has shared the stage with folk rock veteran Catie Curtis, been featured at Eastham’s First Encounter Coffeehouse, the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s Songwriter Series, First Night celebrations in Sandwich, Chatham, and Northern Vermont, and a host of New England coffeehouses, community centers, art houses, festivals and benefits.

A native of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Diana is a long time Cape resident, and currently resides in West Barnstable with her wife and band mate, Melody and their back yard chickens.
