SONG KEEPERS, Ltd. (SKL) is a 501c3, non-profit, professional arts, education and economic development organization formed in 2012; dedicated to the preservation and continuation of traditional and contemporary music of Black and Brow people and address issues of social and economic equity and justice for musical artists of the Black and Brown communities.

Our goal is to expand and enhance the social and educational experiences and economic development opportunities of our communities through the development and implementation of programs, project and events that engage our communities as presenters, participants and audiences. In addition, Song Keepers, Ltd. Is committed to organizing indigenous communities around social, and economic issues affecting indigenous people.

Song Keepers, LTD (SKL) itself grew out of an arts and civic engagement project under the fiscal auspices of Oversoul Theatre Collective and UMass Dartmouth in 2010, by traditional and contemporary First Nations musicians and media artists; who recognized a need for high quality arts programming and related activities to engage community people as presenters and audiences. In 2015, the Song Keepers project became it’s own non-profit organization.
