The Provincetown Community Compact, Inc. (The Compact) was established in 1993 by artist Jay Critchley as a community-building and philanthropic organization to support living artists and the vitality of the arts community. It’s mission is Nurturing Community.

The mission of The Compact is to advance the health and cultural well being of the  Provincetown community and the Lower Cape – its people, the natural environment and the economy. The Compact also acts as a grass-roots incubator (Think-ubator) for social, environmental and artistic projects, offering fiscal sponsorship and administrative support.

The Compact has envisioned Provincetown as a Cultural Sanctuary. As such, our projects express the connection between the arts, the community, and the environment.

We explore the role and relevance of art and create experiences that break down divides, often in unexpected ways. Compact projects strengthen the interdependence of people and place in order to nurture the creative process and promote sustainability.

Also check out our dune shack residencies and the annual Provincetown Swim for Life & Paddler Flotilla, which has raised $4.5M for AIDS, women’s health and the community. The 31st event is Saturday, September 8, 2018.  www.swim4life.org
