Students will learn the technique of sfumato which allows tones and colors to shade gradually into one another, producing softened outlines and hazy forms. Leonardo da Vinci used this technique to show atmospheric perspective and depth in his landscapes. Materials to be provided by student: sketchbook, pencil, eraser, chalk pastels (or colored pencils).
