Valerie Hegarty is a Brooklyn-based artist who creates paintings, sculptures, and installations that address themes of memory, place, and history. This exhibition features three of Hegarty’s artworks from her Secrets of the Sea series with a selection of works from the Cahoon Museum’s collection of maritime art, including a piece by the explorer and artist William Bradford (1823-1892) known for his paintings of ships and Arctic landscapes.
