The original Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble is an 18 piece “big band”, in the style of Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and others. The mid-cape based band consists of 16 instrumentalists and male and female vocalists. We are primarily retired folks and non-professional musicians who thoroughly enjoy making great music and performing before appreciative audiences.
This past year has been a very challenging time for live music and the Arts due to the COVID coronavirus. Restrictions imposed to control the spread of the virus, including social distancing, wearing of masks, and gathering size limits have made it impossible to rehearse and perform as a full sized big band. As a result the Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble have reimagined ourselves, for the time being, as a Combo ( 6 instrumentalists and 2 vocalists), The Sound Dunes Combo.
A Music and More Summer Concert. Be sure to bring a lawn chair or blanket! The concert begins at 4:30 pm. In case of rain, the concert will be held inside the museum.
