Open Mic Classical is a new experience in classical music, helping our community’s musicians share their music with a friendly, and supportive audience. Classical musicians of all ages and levels are welcome.

We try to have a 1.5-hour program with a featured guest musician who gets a longer spot. Our featured guest on September 19th, 2021 will be Harwich based pianist James Rosenblum with a program featuring works by fantastic early 20th century composers, like Scott Joplin ragtimes, and Maurice Ravel works. This will be a sneak preview of a repertoire James will perform in its entirety at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod in October.
Cape Cod-based pianist and lawyer James Rosenblum has studied classical piano since age six. His teachers hail from Yale, Juilliard, the Manhattan School of Music, the Aspen Music Festival, and the Tel-Hai International Piano Master Classes. James was a finalist at the 2016 Chicago Amateur Piano Competition and is one of 48 worldwide competitors selected for the Cliburn Amateur Competition to take place in 2022.

Musicians are asked to sign up in an email or by phone, not later than 2.15 pm on the day of the event. We will select up to 8-10 players. Participants can sign up for a piece, or a movement up to 5-6 minutes. Second piece can be played, time permitting. Pianist on request is available to accompany you (when not online).
“Open Mic Classical” is brought to you by clarinetist Mónika Veress Woods (winner of the Cape Symphony’s 2013 Soloist Competition) with the help of a great list of collaborative pianists including Lucy Banner, Elizabeth Tipton, Ana Glig, Sylvia Karkus Furash, Ben Healy.
