Mischa Richter Reception / Doriane Laux & Joe Millar Poetry Reading

Truro Center for the Arts is proud to host an exhibit by renowned photographer Mischa Richter at the Castle Hill Gallery from August 11-21, 2015. There will be an opening reception on Thursday, August 13 from 4-6pm. Immediately following the reception, will be a poetry reading by celebrated poets Doriane Laux & Joe Millar at 6pm. Tickets for the reading are $10; the event is free for Castle Hill Members.

Mischa will be teaching a week-long workshop, The Artist’s Ambition, from August 10-14 (Mon-Fri). This workshop will discuss the intent of creating a photograph and the various ways to understand these intentions including various aspects of composition, light and color. Richter will share his process and discuss several bodies of work that he has created on Cape Cod. Students will be given the task to go out and create images that illustrate their intentions.

Doriane and Joe will be teaching The Personal Universe Poetry Workshop at Castle Hill from August 10-14 (Mon-Fri). The workshop will allow students to practice writing poems each day that discover and reflect their personal universe while leaving enough space for the reader to enter. Students should bring a notebook or laptop and be prepared to create their own personal universe matrix, a take-home chart that will be used as a prompt, and as an ongoing tool or resource.
