Louis Armstrong Comes to Life at Historic Sandwich Town Hall

This multi-sensory event takes place on the Glass Town Stage at Sandwich Historic Town Hall on Saturday, May 4th at 7:00 pm. Tickets, priced at $25 per person, are available online at sandwichartsalliance.org.

Jazz enthusiasts and newcomers alike will have a rare glimpse into the life and musical history of Louis Armstrong, one of the most iconic figures in American Jazz, and experience the essence of Armstrong’s influence on the genre.

“This event is not just a concert; it’s a journey through the cultural and educational aspects of jazz, celebrating the sounds that have become the foundation of American music”, remarked Sandwich Arts Alliance Performing Arts Director Melinda Gallant.

Singer/trombonist Michael Persico and his Classic Jazz and Swing Orchestra recreate the “Jazz Age” while candid images by Jack Bradley provide an intimate look at Armstrong’s interactions with other jazz legends.

Persico has been a staple of the Cape Cod jazz scene for over thirty years, performing classic jazz and swing from the 30’s and 40’s. Jack Bradley was a photographer and fan of Louis Armstrong who served as Armstrong’s personal photographer from 1959 until Armstrong’s death in 1971.
