Featured Artist – Karen Pryce

The Featured Artist at the Eastwind Gallery in Orleans will be Karen Pryce from Monday, June 27th  through Saturday, July 2nd from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In another life, Karen worked as an interior decorator. Her favorite part of the job was when clients commissioned her to paint a mural. Since retiring and moving to Cape Cod in 2009, Karen has immersed herself in the Cape’s vibrant art scene. Now instead of painting walls, she paints in oil on canvas. When selecting a scene to paint, Karen looks for strong compositional elements and value contrast. Light is also an important element in her paintings. Each painting starts with a sketch, checking the composition. Then she blocks in the large shapes. Only when the painting is near completion does she add the smaller details. Karen’s favorite subject – skies!

Eastwind Gallery is a cooperative with 14 gallery artists displaying a diverse array of artwork.

The gallery is located downstairs between Watson’s Men’s Apparel & Gallant Jewelry in the heart of the Orleans Cultural District. Enter from Main St. or Main St. Square where FREE parking is available behind Watson’s with a rear entrance to the gallery. Gallery hours until June 30 are Thursday through Saturday from 11 am to 4 pm. July gallery hours will be Monday-Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
