Figure and Portrait Painting Workshop

Saturday and Sunday,  October 14 & 15
9:00am – 4:00pm

Paul Schulenburg will share his approach to capturing the personality, likeness, and figurative gesture of the model.

Each day will start with a talk and demonstration. Methods of working quickly while maintaining accuracy will be discussed, as well as the potential benefits of distortion or exaggeration for the sake of free expression. Students will sharpen their skills in drawing and color mixing, working in the direct “alla prima” method of working wet into wet when working with oils. Pastels, watercolors and acrylics will also be welcome if the student feels more comfortable with any of those mediums.
