Clay Exploration for 9-12 Year Olds: Make a Micro Museum with Hope Salamone
Each child will decide the focus of their “museum,” and create both the gallery and the objects that will be displayed in it through many different ways of forming clay; pinch, coil and slab techniques to make fun and functional works of art.
What would your museum hold? Fossils? Butterflies? Skeletons? Sculptures? Insects? Lego? We will be creating our own mini galleries, diorama style, to display what fascinates us. Each child will decide what the focus of their “museum” is, and create both the gallery, and the objects that will be displayed in it out of clay through the course of the class. Children’s classes this session each has a need-based seat. The pandemic has created unprecedented circumstances in our communities, and the only way we will pull through this is to pull together. Meetinghouse Clay Center classes are limited to six students. The center adheres to CDC and Commonwealth of Massachusetts Covid-19 protocols for social distancing and face coverings, and has hand-washing and sanitizing stations.
