1931 Berlin. All of Europe is having the time of their lives, including a young American writer who has just arrived in the city. He meets Sally Bowles, an eccentric British cabaret singer, currently engaged at the seedy Kit Kat Klub, It seems everyone is oblivious to what is going on outside.
