Laura Shabott is an artist, teacher, actor, and writer who attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) at TUFTS. In 1992, she discovered Provincetown and stayed, working in the hospitality industry, and immersing herself in the arts colony. In 2015, she returned to her roots as a painter through a grant from the Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM), and a scholarship from Berta Walker to study with Brooklyn College Professor Emeritus Robert Henry.

In response to the pandemic, the artist/teacher built a virtual art school, Shabott + Barrett, with artist Alana Barrett providing online courses in partnership with Castle Hill Truro Center for the Arts, PAAM and Long Island’s Art Guild. She has exhibited in solo, group and juried shows, notably at Four Eleven Gallery, Cape Cod Museum of Art, The Fine Arts Work Center, PAAM and New Haven’s Contemporary Center for the Arts.
