My name is HoYin Yuen. I am an art educator working on Cape Cod. I see my personal work as an artist as informative to my practice as an educator. I am constantly reminded and taught about the artistic process through my personal work which I bring into my profession as an art educator. I am well versed and work in a variety of media.
In my personal work I allow concept to come first, and I then choose which media will best convey that concept. In my recent work with clay I’ve been exploring student encounters that I have that are humorous, upsetting, frustrating and disheartening as narratives on ceramic vessels. The vessels deal with formal elements of clay looking at shape and form, while having an emphasis of duality with interior against exterior.
