This program features a string quartet including Curtis graduate Bella Hristova and Curtis President Roberto Díaz. Acclaimed for her passionate, powerful performances, beautiful sound, and compelling command of her instrument, violinist Bella Hristova has been called “a player of impressive power and control” (Washington Post).  A violist of international reputation, Roberto Díaz combines an active performing career with leadership of Curtis, following in the footsteps of renowned soloist/directors such as Josef Hofmann, Efrem Zimbalist, and Rudolf Serkin. David Ludwig, chair of Curtis’s composition faculty and artistic advisor to the president, provides commentary.
