Internationally acclaimed vocalist Andrea Baker headlines Tenth Anniversary Celebration for Zion Union Heritage Museum!
This joyful, soulful event includes a reception, a drawing, and the premiere U.S. performance of Sing Sistah Sing! The critically acclaimed show—conceived, written, produced, and performed by the celebrated vocalist Andrea Baker— is a dazzling tribute to the sound and extraordinary breadth of the African American female voice. It spotlights such iconic American singers as Leontyne Price, Marian Anderson, Donna Summer, Nina Simone and the great Billie Holiday—their music and aspects of their incredible life stories. The show weaves together these women’s brave struggles both within the civil rights movement and in their individual quests for artistic freedom at home and abroad. The drawing will include works by the museum's resident artists Pamela Chatterton-Purdy, Carl Lopes, Robin Joyce Miller, Michael Alfano, and Sean Cassidy.
