Talk with Best-selling Author Paul Kemprecos

Talk with Best-selling Author Paul Kemprecos

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

Kemprecos says he has always been inspired by the places and people of Cape Cod.  While writing a story for the Cape Codder newspaper, he became fascinated with the story of the pirate Capt. Samuel “Black” Bellamy.  This fascination led him to write seven novels in the Cape Cod-based Artistotle “Soc” Socarides private detective series.  His first novel, Cool Blue Tomb, received a Shamus Award from the Private Eye Writers of America. His work was admired by best-selling author Clive Cussler and led to a writing partnership.

He co-authored eight adventure novels with Cussler in the best-selling NUMA Files series, including Polar Shift, which reached the top of the New York Times best-seller list.

Kemprecos has also written two books featuring former Navy SEAL and undersea robotics engineer Matinicus Hawkins. The second Hawkins book, entitled The Minoan Cipher, was nominated for a Thriller Award by the International Thriller Writers.

Kemprecos is still inspired by Cape Cod and its people.  Currently, he has been drawn back to his fascination with the Bellamy story and is at work on a new novel tentatively called Shark Bait.

The museum galleries are open and free on ARTfull Thursdays from 5 - 8 pm. The fee for this talk is $12; $10 for members.  A Reception will follow the talk.
