The Falmouth Chorale, led by John Yankee, presents “Baroque Splendor,” Saturday and Sunday, October 21&22, 4 PM at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford, Falmouth, featuring works by Vivaldi, Bach, Handel and others of the period.
The Falmouth Chorale, under the direction of John Yankee, presents “Baroque Splendor” in two concerts on Saturday, October 21, and Sunday, October 22, 4 pm at John Wesley United Methodist Church, 270 Gifford Street in Falmouth. Guest soloists Erin Smith and Meredith Ziegler and the Falmouth Chorale Chamber Singers will be featured--all accompanied by chamber orchestra.
The program includes works by Vivaldi, Bach, and Handel, as well as other important composers who contributed to music of the Baroque period, stretching from about 1600 to 1750. This extremely productive period for vocal and choral music produced the first operas, larger-form cantatas and oratorios, including arias and independent art songs. The modern orchestra was also developed during this era — both in musical forms and new instruments.
Tickets to “Baroque Splendor” are $25 in advance for adults, $30 at the door, student tickets are $5. For tickets or more information, visit www.falmouthchorale.org, call 774-392-2383, or follow The Falmouth Chorale on Facebook.
