Since we’re looking at Japanese art this month, we decided to continue the theme with a famous Japanese animated film. In this film from critically acclaimed director Katsuhiro Otomo (Akira), an alternate England in the 1860’s has made tremendous advances in steam-powered technology.  One day, a young inventor named Ray Steam (Anna Paquin), following in the footsteps of his father Edward Steam (Alfred Molina), receives a mysterious package from his grandfather Lloyd Steam (Patrick Stewart). It is a strange mechanical ball that contains revolutionary power, and many powerful forces want to get their hands on it. Ray soon finds his world flipped upside down, and realizes that he will have to make a choice about what side he is on, that could not only change the evolution of steam technology for the country, but also set off a global war.
