and SETH RUDETSKY as pianist/host

The inimitable Broadway icon Chita Rivera will combine forces with the multitalented Seth Rudetsky to kick off the Broadway@Cotuit Center for the Arts series this summer.

Rudetsky will serve as host and pianist for Rivera, who has been a musical theater superstar for more than five decades, winning two Tony awards and multiple nominations. She is known for originating the Broadway roles of Anita in “West Side Story,” Rosie in “Bye Bye Birdie” and Velma in “Chicago,” and has appeared in the original casts of “Guys and Dolls,” “Can Can,” and many other shows, both classic and contemporary.

In addition to providing piano accompaniment to Rivera’s vocalizations, Rudetsky will keep the audience entertained with the kind of witty conversation and insider insights that have made his Sirius XM radio shows, “Seth Speaks” and “Broadway Chatterbox,” so popular.

Once referred to as the “mayor of Broadway” by the New York Times, the versatile Rudetsky has played piano in several Broadway shows and served as artistic producer/music director for five annual concerts benefiting the Actors Fund. He wrote and starred in the critically acclaimed semi-autobiographical off-Broadway show “Rhapsody in Seth,” and tours the country conducting classes and performing his one-man show “Deconstructing Broadway.” He also co-wrote (with Jack Plotnick) and starred in the hilarious off-Broadway musical “Disaster!”

His television experience includes “Law and Order: Criminal Intent,” and the recurring role of Rudy, a Las Vegas choreographer, on the long-running soap opera “All My Children.” Rudetsky has written the nonfiction “Q Guide to Broadway,” two novels, “Broadway Nights” and “My Awesome/Awful Popularity Plan,” and his newest book, “Seth’s Broadway Diary,” a compilation of the weekly columns written for Playbill.com since 2007.

Rivera was the first Hispanic woman and the first Latino American to receive a Kennedy Center Honors award (2002) and was presented with the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama in 2009.

After making her stage debut in “Call Me Madam” in 1951, she appeared in more than 40 musical productions, numerous films and several television shows, including a role on “One Life to Live.”

This performance is part of the “Broadway @” concert series produced by Mark Cortale, producing artistic director at The Art House in Provincetown. Cortale is also the producer of Rudetsky’s Broadway-themed web network, www.SethTV.com.
