Join friends and neighbors on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month for prompt-based writing spurred on by the news of the day.
If you've been stirred up by the news, day after day for the last many months; If you find once you start talking about the current political situation, you can't stop; If you desperately want to talk about it, but you're afraid to (afraid it will get someone else going); OR if you've been wanting to write a letter to the editor (or your uncle Jim) and just haven't yet put pen to paper, this is for you!
We'll take an excerpt from the news of the day (or week). We'll read, watch, or listen to it. Then, we'll head off into our own worlds (or corners or heads) with pen (or pencil or crayon), and respond to the news in words or pictures.
We'll write or draw for about 40 minutes, and leave enough time for those willing to share to do so, and for some discussion (of the pieces of work).
Whether it's pure purging or it's a draft of something you might send out into the world, it will be good to get it out!
(NOTE: We'll set some ground rules at the beginning of each session! Prompt Politics is about exploring our own thoughts and those of others in a safe, supportive space where interest and curiosity take precedence over position.)
This event is offered at no charge. Contributions to help support The Space always appreciated.
