Freedom of Expression - An Exhibition

Freedom of Expression - An Exhibition

Presented by Cape Cod Museum of Art at Cape Cod Museum of Art

I was quite struck by the intelligence, fervor and emotion artists have employed to reflect what they see happening in the world right now.  Beyond that, I was equally compelled by the sheer diversity in media, technique and process the artists used to find their own artistic freedom.”

-Jared Bowen, Exhibition Juror; Executive Arts Editor at WGBH, host of Open Studio with Jared Bowen

Special Talk on April 13 with museum director Edith (Deede) Tonelli and artists. 1 pm

Tonelli said, “At this complex time in our culture we are being encouraged to express our thoughts and feelings, even though, at the same time, we can face increasing attacks for expressing them. We reached out to artists to discover how this conflicting message is effecting their artistic expression.

The exhibit was conceived as part of ArtSpring Cape Cod Festival which will be launched with a Kickoff Reception hosted by the museum on April 27, 2017.   This 10-day Arts Festival of special artwork, theater and performance events takes place throughout Cape Cod from April 27 – May 7. 2017.  The reception will be a collaborative affair with other organizations with special presentations and performances.
