Roots rock and blues meet witty, compelling storytelling in the songs of Out Late’s Diana Di Gioia. Their third CD, “Nevermore”, is now available. A three time finalist in the Cape’s Eventide Songwriting Competition, Di Gioia describes her music as combining “word nerd lyrical skills with rock ‘n’ roll energy”.
The band features Di Gioia on vocals and rhythm guitar, J Hagenbuckle on lead guitar, Melody Masi on backing vocals and Peter Giordano on bass. Together they create a sound rich in texture and mood and powered by danceable rhythms, with influences from surf to rockabilly to swing blues.
The Cape Cod Times calls her songs “Finely honed narratives with telling details”. The Outer Cape’s Payomet Center for the Arts says, “Diana and her band bring youthful energy, exuberant sound and fun storytelling to her original body of songs.”
Out Late has played the Cape Cod Women’s Music Festival, opened a Payomet Center for the Arts show at Provincetown’s Town Hall, been featured at the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod’s Songwriter Series, First Night celebrations in Sandwich, Chatham, and Northern Vermont, and a host of New England coffeehouses, festivals and benefits.
A native of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, Diana is a long time Cape resident, and currently resides in West Barnstable.
