Description:
In this hands-on workshop you’ll learn how to control light, shadow and color to strengthen the mood and emotional impact of your pictures. We’ll look at the work of various photographers and painters and examine how they used light and color to make their images work. We’ll then turn to Lightroom and Photoshop to discuss and practice specific techniques, including:
– Luminosity Masks in Photoshop
– Advanced techniques with the Adjustment Brush and HSL sliders in Lightroom and Adobe Camera Raw
– Dodge & Burn techniques to add dimensionality and “pop”
– How to enhance and add colors for a natural look
– How to deal with blown highlights and blocked shadows
– Matching and replacing colors
Who’s it for
Intermediate and up photographers with experience with Lightroom and
Photoshop. You should know how to import and do basic edits in
Lightroom, and have some experience with Photoshop.
What to bring
A laptop already loaded with a recent version of Lightroom and
Photoshop, and 2-3 unedited pictures and a flash drive.
Instructor Bio:
John Tunney is an award-winning photographer and instructor and author of The Four Seasons of Cape Cod. A frequent exhibitor in art shows and festivals, his work has been featured in a solo exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester, MA, and in many solo and group shows in galleries and other exhibition centers. His images have appeared in Fodor’s Florida, the Guardian newspaper, Cape Cod Life, Cape Cod magazine, the Cape Codder and in many ads, brochures and websites. He has led workshops on Cape Cod, Iceland and elsewhere. A former board member and president of Cape Cod Art Center, he helped create and lead its Photography Center of Cape Cod and the annual Click! Photography Conference.
