A production of George Orwell’s “1984” opens on April 20th in the Tilden Arts Center Studio Theatre, as part of ArtSpring Cape Cod, a grass-roots collaboration between multiple arts and culture organizations across the region.
Published in 1949, Orwell's "1984" (and subsequent stage adaptations) is set in a world of constant war, ever present government surveillance, and, most notably, a political system dominated by a cult of personality and control of independent thinking by means of a constructed language called “newspeak” and a prohibition on “thoughtcrime.”

“1984” opens in the Tilden Arts Center Studio Theatre on April 20th and continues through April 30th. Shows are April 20, 21, 22 and 27, 28, 29 at 7:30 and April 22, 23 and 29, 30 at 2:00. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $10 for seniors and service members. Students are admitted free.
