 Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady experienced a six year run which smashed all previous records, cemented stardom for Julie Andrews and Rex Harrison, and immortalized the names of its creators. In temperament, personality and background, Lerner and Loewe were perhaps the most dissimilar of all songwriting teams, two men who somehow accommodated their often tempestuous relationship to generate brilliantly crafted musical productions—Brigadoon, Paint Your Wagon, My Fair Lady, the film Gigi, and finally Camelot.
