Workshop on acid-free Printmaking using Solorplates, by the pioneer of this technique. A complement to an exhibition of Welden’s work on display at the Museum.
Welden demonstrates how to make Solarplates and print both intaglio and relief plates. As an original pioneer of safer and greener methods, he has been in the forefront of printmaking without the use of acids or other dangerous chemicals .
Experiment with the new Solarplate in the printmaking process. Draw, paint, or work photographically and then re-work your images with gesso, Caran d'Ache crayons, matt medium, and other mixed media materials. The excitement of hybrid works on paper can ... view more »

Friday, July 7:
2:00 PM - 4:00 PM - Cecilia Rossey will prepare and test the press in the Weny Education Center for the upcoming workshop. Workshop participants and Museum patrons are welcomed to come and get a sense of how a solarplate is printed. Cecilia Rossey, printmaking instructor at the CCMoA, will be assisting Dan Welden in the workshop over the weekend.
