In this workshop, loosening up will be our goal! We’ll explore abstraction, still life, and landscape in your choice of acrylic or oil paint. Large brushes, paint rollers, palette knives and paint scrapers will enable you to break out of old habits and dive into new ones. Painting and drawing experience is necessary, as I won’t cover fundamentals. Come prepared to explore, get messy, and enjoy the process.

Elizabeth Awalt is an artist whose work explores the natural world through expressive and visionary paintings. Awalt received her MFA from the University of Pennsylvania and BA from Boston College. In 1984 she began teaching at Boston College, was awarded tenure, and taught there until 2000. Awalt has received fellowships at the Fine Arts Work Center, Yaddo, MacDowell, and Millay colonies. She has received a Massachusetts Artist Fellowship and grant from the National Endowment of the Arts. Her work is included in many collections including the Decordova Museum, Rose Art Museum, and Danforth Museum. The artist is represented by Matter and Light Fine Art in Boston, Massachusetts and Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland, Maine. Ms. Awalt resides in Concord, Massachusetts and Swans Island, Maine.
