Sturgis Library first opened its doors for business in August 1867, making 2017 our 150th anniversary. As part of our celebration, our winter literary discussion program will focus on books of note from the past 150 years.
Dr. S. Elaine Craghead, Massachusetts Maritime Academy full professor, will lead a discussion of Alice Adams by Booth Tarkington, the novel that won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1921. The heroine, Alice, is caught in a class system which she attempts to escape.
