When I was 5, my grandmother stated to my parents “look at those special hands, Karol is going to be an artist when she grows up!” Now 70 years later my art continues! No, it wasn’t that magical statement that set me in motion to become an artist, but a focused perseverance, dedication, love, discipline and a wonderful father to guide me forward. Dad taught me the contrasts of darks and lights, to feel the beauty surrounding me, to under stand perspective and architecture when drawing a composition. When I was a HS junior, I was accepted into my favorite school, Rhode Island School of Design where I worked in an advertising agency part time. Upon graduation I continued in advertising, eventually becoming an art director in both Boston and NYC. When our family began to grow, 42 years ago, I honed in on developing my fine art skills, which I continue to this day! This 14 11/2″ X 21 1/2″ watercolor painting is one of many oils and watercolors I have done over the years. It is framed with a white acid free mat, in a 22″ X 28″ gold frame. Known for my tranquil peaceful subject matter, I enjoy drawing in each piece first with an understanding of the anatomy before painting boats, landscapes, seascapes, people and animals. My paintings, regardless of the media, are realistic and evocative. I know that my love of art and love of life will continue to be good to me!
